Webinar to Focus on Mental Injury Prevention Tools and Resources

HAMILTON, ON (October 20, 2014)The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) will be presenting a webinar: Taking Action on Workplace Stress, on October 21, 2014, to explore tools, resources and prevention strategies organizations can use to keep their workplaces healthy and safe.

Stress in the workplace can have many origins or come from one single event, and can have an impact on both employees and employers alike. John Oudyk of the Occupational Health Clinic for Ontario Workers (OHCOW) will outline mental injury prevention tools and resources to help organizations take action on workplace stress. Take Action on Workplace Stress will take a close look at ways to identify and measure psychosocial hazards, and will outline mental injury prevention tools and resources to help organizations take action on workplace stress.

The webinar is intended for anyone interested in understanding workplace stress, as well as health and safety professionals and committee members, managers, supervisors, and employers.

The presentation will be webcast live, Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time from CCOHS in Hamilton, Ontario. Participants not able to attend the live webcast will be given the opportunity to download the presentation prior to the live webcast.

About John Oudyk
As an Occupational Hygienist for the last 25 years with the Hamilton Clinic of the Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers, John has measured all kinds of hazards in workplaces ranging from offices to foundries. In the 1990's he began to measure psychosocial hazards in office settings and among firefighters. In 2009 he started working with the Mental Injuries Tool group to devise a questionnaire to help workplace parties assess psychosocial hazards at work. John has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and Masters in Health Research Methods from the McMaster University. He has an appointment as an Assistant Professor (part-time) in the Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics Department.
